Tire dynamics is an important part of the vehicle dynamics. The tire dynamic simulation is also the focus and difficulty of the modern tire model. To make the modal parameter tire model be directly used for vehicle proving ground simulation, we need to establish a tire steady rolling model and time domain rolling model. In this paper, based on modal analysis theory and tire modal test, the modal parameters in three directions (radial, tangential and lateral) are successfully obtained under the excitation and response of the three directions. These parameters are the basis to establish tire model.According to the tire mechanics, vibration theory and modal analysis theory, carcass, tread and sidewall response formulas under the steady rolling conditions are derived. The model is joined the damping of the tread pattern. Impact of the carcass using different damping types on the model is analyzed. Tire steady rolling model is perfected; tire rolling resistance and imprinting force distribution in different loads and different speed conditions are calculated. Having compared the model calculations and experimental results, they are qualitatively consistent. The tire time domain rolling model is further improved in this paper. It is focused on the method derivation of carcass deformation calculation under the condition of time domain rolling. By calculating the tire time domain dynamic response using matrix inversion method, the vertical and horizontal forces applied to the tire in different stages of starting speed circumstances are obtained initially. Moreover, their spectrum analyses are respectively done in this paper. This paper is to further explore and improve on the basis of the existing models. Model calculations qualitatively agree with experimental results. The tire steady-state and time-domain rolling models which are established using the direct modal parameters help us understand the tire kinematics and dynamic mechanism, which also demonstrated the superiority of using experimental modal parameters to establish tire models.
