Higher energy efficiency and more economical energy-saving is the relentlesspursuit of industrial production. Hydrodynamic compound planetary gear drivedevice, developed by German company Voith, combined adjustable hydrodynamictransmission device and the planetary gear together, is a technology with wide rangeof applications, high efficiency, stable performance, high reliability, and greattransfer power, which achieved the perfect combination of a hydrodynamictransmission with mechanical transmission, according to the power split principle.This paper makes a study of technical characteristics and application of the system,analysis the match of hydrodynamic transmission device and the planetary gear forspecifically condition, to seek the device for further development and application.The paper first discussed the differences of the structure and combination ofhydrodynamic element and planetary gear of three different output conditions:high-speed, low-speed and constant speed, analysis the operating characteristics andload characteristics match of the different structures, made the kinematicscharacteristics of that three type equipment, derived the relationship of transmissionratio, efficiency and operating point with main parameters of the torque converterand characteristic parameters of planetary gear system.The paper second studied the kinematics characteristics of the hydrodynamicplanetary gear drives; made a analyze about this device speed control betweenhydrodynamic coupling control and frequency control, come to the advantages anddisadvantages about their efficiency, cost and reliability of the device applicationsin high-speed high-power situations. It also discussed the using feasibility oflow-speed output device in the reciprocating compressor.Finally, match the kinematics characteristics of the device to the low andhigh-speed output device preliminarily determined to meet the design requirementsof the torque converter reference hydrodynamic model to calculate the mainstructural parameters of high-speed output devices.This paper did a relatively comprehensive and systematic analysis abouthydrodynamic planetary gear drives, conducted a preliminary match computationand structural design, and laid a good foundation for the future development of thedomestic hydrodynamic compound planetary gear drive technology.
