In the long river of human civilization, building reflects the step by stepdevelopment truthfully in human history.Buildingis not only the material existencesheltering human from the storm,but also the destination of people’s spirit.It is thephysical existence form to construct and convey the human spirit directly. Theancient architectures of the Western and the Eastern word developed independentlyin a very long historical period, which show a very different outlook presentedunder the influence of different cultural backgrounds. Two representative buildings,Forbidden City in Beijing and the Louvre Museum, reflect their unique civilizationheritage in the long history. In this paper, we take the basic form of the twopalaces as compared objects to study through multi-level, and multi-angleperspective. Aim at to find the similarities and differences from the architectureaspect between the two palaces.The comparison was used as the theoretical basis of this article. After clarifiedthe formation and evolution process of Forbidden City in Beijing and the LouvreMuseum, the two palaces were compared through listing the practical data,comparing the features and chart analyzing methods, et al.Firstly,the origin and development of the eastern and western architecture werecompared.And the utterly different architectural systems from Eastern andWestern word were compared from the philosophy perspective which had a deepinfluence on the architecture. Through the comparison of development of the twohistoric palaces, the very different attitudes were obtained between the Westernand Eastern. In the next part of the article, we contrast the presented architecturalforms of the two buildings. The basic elements of these two architectures werecompared from the local perspective, and then from the comparison of thesimilarities and differences of the theoretical basis and the romantic expression, thespecific effects of the aesthetic standards and cultural values on the architecturalforms were analysized. In the last part of this article, the similarities anddifferences of the Forbidden City in Beijing and the Louvre Museum on spaceintention aspect were compared. Finally, by comparing both overallspace sequencesas well as the internal spatial structure, the two distinct social attitudes and the viewof nature behind the space intention of the two buildings were clarified.The comparative study of Eastern and Western classical architectures has thedouble meaning of the theory and reality. In this paper, a framework forcomparative study was built with a new perspective. Both architectural form andarchitectural space structure were analysized using the relevant theories from manyaspects in simple terms.Its value is to break through the separate study of the classical architecture of the East and the West in the past. Through the targeted comparison between thesame type of buildings from the East and West, an innovative perspective wasexplored to compare the similarities and differences of the architectural resistancefrom, through which a reality inspired can be figured out.
