Yanqing Palace is located southwest of Six Western Palaces, south of Jianfu Palaceand west of Taiji Palace in the Forbidden City. Generally, it is determined to be built inthe early years of Qianlong Dynasty and used for spring celebration of imperial family.The architectural form and decorative paintings of Yanqing Palace and its wind-roomsare unique, which endows Yanqing Palace important historical and artistic values.This thesis, which is based on extensive literature study, field research andmapping data compilation, systematically studies the architectural form of YanqingPalace in many aspects such as courtyard layout, construction year and function, timbersystem, building status and renovation, features of decorative paintings and so on. Italso compairs Yanqing Palace with other official buildings which were built inQianlong Dynasty in the Forbidden City, in order to summarize their general features.On the other hand, the features of the Suzhou-style decorative paintings on east andwest wind-rooms are completely different from that in the same period, which means avery high historical value.On the basis of the comprehensive research of Yanqing Palace’s architectural formand the material quantity of official buildings in Qing Dynasty, also combined with therepair techniques of ancient architecture from the Palace Museum, a reseasonableprotection program of Yanqing Palace is proposed to preserve its multiple values.
