Metal rubber has characteristics of resistance to high and low temperature,corrosion, and behaving like rubber, so it has replaced traditional rubber in somesevere environment of military and civilian. Metal rubber can be used in fields ofvibration reduction, sealing, throttling and filtering, of which vibration reduction isthe main one. The study on fatigue life and its experiment of circular metal rubbervibration isolator can provide some base for metal rubber’s practical application.The relationship of force and displacement of MR vibration isolator is studied.It’s found that hysteresis loop of force and displacement of MR vibration isolator isthe superposition of MR component’s ones, which provides the basis for the fatiguelife experiment.The fatigue life experiment is conducted with controlled-stress method, andit’s found that with the cyclic loading time increasing some parameters of vibrationisolator will attenuate, like resonant frequency, resonance transmission rate, energydissipation coefficient, height and quality of MR component. Resonant frequencyand transmission rate will attenuate linearly after exceeding the maximum value,which can be used to estimate the fatigue life of MR vibration isolation.When the cyclic loading time of resonance frequency attenuating to themaximum90%is considered the fatigue life of MR vibration isolation, the fatiguelife experimental formula is got from the test data. The experimental formuladescribes the relationship between the fatigue life of MR vibration isolation andworking stress, prestress, relative density and metal wire’s diameter.Although in forming direction MR components are only subjected to the cycleload which’s maximum value not changing, the experiment itself and its relevantconclusions not only provide reference value for the research of metal rubber’sfatigue life, but also for estimation of its service life in the actual application.
