Crankshaft and the valve train are important components of internal combustionengine. The full engine powers are output though the crankshaft. The performance ofthe valve train has very important effect to the performance indicators of internalcombustion engine. An internal combustion engine economic performance is superior, the work is reliable, noise and vibration can be controlled in a low limit, often have aclose relationship with the valve train design is reasonable or not. The valve timingdrive system transfer crankshaft power to the valve train for the exhaust control. Atthe same time, valve timing drive system dynamics analysis results can also providethe academic direction to the engine power, economy, reliability, vibration and noise. This paper uses a1.8L gasoline engine as the research object, firstly, using themulti-body dynamics software AVL—EXCITE Designer to establish crankshaftmodel, through the3dimensional mapping software to determine the parameters ofthe system, analyzes the free vibration and forced vibration of shaft, and analyzes thecharacteristics of crankshaft torsional vibration after the installation of the damper. Then it introduces the test method and apparatus of crankshaft torsional vibration, andusing the software LMS Test.lab to test the torsional vibration, analyzes the testresults and simulation results. This paper also uses the software EXCITE—Timing Drive to simulate thedynamic characteristics of timing drive system. It uses the crankshaft speedfluctuation data of shaft torsional vibration as the main excitation source, analyzes themain factors impacting the transverse vibration of timing drive system, and analyzesthe dynamic characteristics of the timing belt and the various components, at the sametime, it puts forward specific optimization schemes to reduce the transverse vibration.
