The Analysis And Comparison For Different Forms Of T Fence In The Wiggins Gas Holder

The separate T fence is generally used as the internal structure for Wiggins gasholder, the piston during the operation process is easy to tilt. So, the monolithic T fenceas a new kind of structural form appears to avoid tilt. At present, the monolithic T fenceis still in the stage of scheme and has no application in the domestic. Therefore,numerical analysis and comparison are implemented for the two structural forms basedon the software ANSYS. The analytical results could be served as reference for structuraldesign.Firstly, the finite element model is developed for monolithic T fence. Thedisplacement, stress and the buckling critical load was calculated in different operationprocess.Studied the instability forms, the influence of different geometric imperfection onthe structural stability. The result showed that the displacement and stress were small inthe operation process，and horizontal bars occurred instability along the z direction.Secondly, established finite element model for T fence and piston in the separatestructure, static and stability analysis were undertaken according to their differentoperation process.Studied the instability forms for T fence and piston, different geometricimperfection on the stability of T fence, the influence of different geometric imperfectionand gradient on the stability of piston. The result showed that the displacement and stressof T fence and piston meet the requirement, stability is controlled by horizontal bars.Finally, compared the changing characteristics of displacement, stress and stabilityin different operation process, and the difference of steel quantity,the complexity of themaintenance operation,space utilization for the two structural forms. Through thecomparison we can see that, stress and space utilization of separate structure have anadvantage over monolithic T fence, monolithic T fence is better in the rest.
