| With the continuous progress and development, China has entered a period of rapiddevelopment of urban modernization, and the quality of urban road and constructionalso have higher requirements. However, it is serious that the decline of the quality ofurban roads because of the settlement of manholes on the road, which is one of the roaddisease problems. Manholes are important parts of urban roads and municipal pipenetwork, and many types of manholes, located in urban primary and secondary roads,have a huge impact on the quality of urban road and driving safety. These manholes aredifferent in materials, size, depth, and so on. Nowadays, it becomes more and morecommon that the settlement of manholes caused by vehicle loads leads to the roadwaypavement damage and bad driving environment. As the maintenance costs of manholesdue to the settlement is quite high, the remediation of the manholes is more urgent nomatter for traffic safety or cost-saving.There are many scholars put forward a number of remediation for manholesettlement both from design and construction. However, more research is only toexplain the theory but practice manholes settlement problem. With the research of urbanroad manholes, the writer analyzes the factors of manholes settlement and find out themain factors. After the analysis of the main factors, the writer gives some suggestionabout the fundamentally remediation of the manholes settlement, and then checks thepracticability and feasibility of the improvement measures in an actual project.The main work and research conclusions are as follow:â‘ Investigation. With The investigation of manholes settlement on some roadwayin Chongqing, the writer classified the settlement deformation, and summed up thesettlement and deformation mechanism.â‘¡Numerical simulation. The manhole mode is simulated, using ANSYS. Basedon the relevant parameters from a municipal engineering and the laboratory tests, themode about the manhole settlement is simulated, which is in order to the numericalmodel closer to practical engineering. After analyzing settlement stress and straindeformation of manholes under different loads by ANSYS, it is found out that the mainreason for the settlement based on the results of the analysis.â‘¢Improvement measure. According to the analysis about the main reason forsettlement, combined with the actual situation of the manholes construction, it is given the improvement measures which will be a fundamentally remediation for the manholessettlement. Then the stress and strain deformation of the manholes will be checked byANSYS after improvement. By observing the settlement of the manholes which take theimprovement measure, it is proved that the measure is worked in actual project. Then itis given some suggestion that the prevention of manholes settlement from the view ofdesign and construction according to the research situation. |
