Traffic congestion had been the focus of attention of the public and made seriousaffects on people’s daily life and work and sustainable development of cities, but alsocaused huge economic losses. Evaluating traffic state and releasing information couldprovide reasonable travel program for traffic participants and could dredge effectivelyand organize legitimately traffic flow to reduce the impact of the traffic congestion.Therefore, studying the evaluation on traffic state of the urban road had an importanttheoretical and practical significance.Firstly, the traffic state and the basic characteristics of traffic flow were analyzeddeep. The impact of road sections and intersection on traffic state were consideredcomprehensively. Average travel speed and occupancy were selected as evaluationindexes of road sections, saturation, vehicle average delay and average maximum queuelength of intersection were selected as evaluation indexes of the intersection. Then, thethree layers evaluation indicator system of traffic state discrimination was designed.Secondly, this paper built model for traffic state recognition based on FAHP andfuzzy comprehensive evaluation. The traffic state composite index was defined toconfirm the finale results of the model, it reflected the continuous gradient nature of thetraffic state. We used simulation experiment on micro-simulation software to verify thefeasibility of the model. First, this paper built the virtual road and selected theappropriate simulation environment and evaluation indexes in VISSIM. Then, thereasonable simulation program was designed. Finally, this paper analyzed the simulationresults based on the inputs data to verify the feasibility and the validity of the model.Finally, the traffic situation and congestion of the city of Chongqing wasintroduced briefly. The micro and macro reasons of Chongqing traffic congestion wereanalyzed deep. Countermeasures and suggestions for reference were given.
