With the increase of traffic flow, the city trunk road is often in high load running state, the influence of traffic congestion caused by the sudden traffic incident has become more and more serious on the city traffic. Sudden traffic accidents usually result in road bottlenecks, causing traffic congest ion, resulting in road traffic capacity and lower traffic flow, and the traffic flow state is very disordered and complex, serious congestion will spread to the entire urban road network, and easy to lead to traffic accidents. Therefore, in the accidental traffic congestion, how to improve the reliability of the road is undoubtedly the important problem to ease urban traffic congestion.For these reasons, this paper takes the traffic congestion in traffic accident as the research object, using the theory of Cellular Automata, established under the condition of traffic congestion traffic flow model, and research on traffic flow characteristics and congestion phenomena in dual traffic congestion by means of numerical simulation. This paper mainly includes the following contents.According to the traffic congestion’s characteristics of the generation, the spread rule and the severity, the paper classified the traffic congestion; among the numerous influencing factors of traffic congestion,the paper mainly analyzed the vehicle rate, the proportion of the models, the length of the warning area and the type of the road bottleneck; divided the city trunk road into different regions based on the congested traffic flow’s characteristics, and analysis of the characteristics of drivers’ car following and lane changing behavior in different congested areas; on the basis of these, the paper improves the two lane traffic model, establishing the urban trunk road traffic congestion model to study the basic characteristics of traffic flow; the traffic flow parameters under different influence factors are analyzed to classify and judge the state of traffic congestion; finally,studied the phenomenon of vehicle queue at the bottleneck of the road,summarized the typical congestion types,and proposed the control measures.
