Centrifugal pump is a hydraulic machinery which is widely used in hydraulic transportation metallurgy, mining and chemical industry etc. In the recent years, with the development of computational fluid dynamics (CFD),the CFD study and the design of centrifugal pump have been closely connected. Predecessors mostly chose the micro particles to research when they analysed the particle diameter influence in the pump flow field. They hardly compared the wear of centrifugal pump in practice to test and verify theoretical results. This paper mainly studies the effect of sand volume fraction and the small and micro particles between0.2mm and0.5mm in diameter to the internal flow in centrifugal pump, and verifies theoretical results by comparing several wear pump examples in reality.In this paper, the entity model is created by Pro/E and meshed by the Pre-processor Gambit of the Fluent software. When the effect of the sand diameter is0.2mm,inlet solid volume fraction is15%,25%and35%.When the sand diameter is0.5mm and inlet solid volume fraction is15%and25%in the flow field,the distribution of velocity and pressure has been simulated in this paper by FLUENT software.The numerical simulation of the internal flow in centrifugal pump is carried out by FLUENT software. The distribution of velocity and pressure in the centrifugal pump is analysed. According to the particle diameter and the sand volume fraction, the pressure, speed and the sand volume fraction in centrifugal pump are analysed under the solid-liquid two-phase flow, and the influence on the pump head and efficiency are calculated by different sand volume fraction.The motion trajectory of solid particles in centrifugal pump can be got, and from the analysis results, we conclude that the main abrasion position. Compared the actual example with the analysis result, it can verify the building of model and the simulation result. It can offer some reference information to the wear of mechanism and the optimization of the centrifugal pump.
