As one of the means to achieve resource recycling, remanufacturing can farthest maintain the original added values of products. Speeding up the development of remanufacturing industry is the objective requirement for building resource-saving and environment-friendly society.Remanufacturing cleaning is an important process of remanufacturing and the premise of measuring part size accuracy, geometric accuracy, surface roughness, surface performance, abrasive wear and adhesion conditions. And it’s also the foundation of components remanufacturing. Remanufacturing cleaning directly affects the part surface analyzing, the part surface measuring, the quality of remanufacturing machining and assembling, and further affects the quality and cost of the remanufacturing products. Remanufacturing cleaning is an indispensable key technology in remanufacturing engineering.Taking waste driving axle housings of vehicles as studying objects, under the framework of remanufacturing cleaning, the paper studied the application of ultrasonic cleaning technology in cleaning waste driving axle housings. Ultrasonic cleaning technology has advantages of high cleaning efficiency, rapid cleaning speed, low cost, environmental protection and so on, especially in cleaning large shell type of mechanical parts."Ultrasonic cavitation" theory of mechanism of removal of dirt was analyzed in the paper. Through the study of the bubbles’dynamics in ultrasonic filed, the factors influencing the ultrasonic clearing were analyzed and the changes of effects caused by ultrasonic cavitation were explained. So a solid theoretical basis for ultrasonic cleaning practice was guaranteed. Combining with the dirt distributing characteristics of the driving axle housings, a cleanliness assessment method for waste driving axle housings of vehicles was determined. Through the study of the cleaning mechanism of water-based cleanser, a kind of efficient and green ultrasonic cleanser was developed and tested. A series of orthogonal experiments were designed and made to clean the waste driving axel housings, and the optimal cleaning parameters were determined for the cleaning of the remanufacturing of waste driving axel housings. The cleaning results satisfied the demands of the remanufacturing of waste driving axel housings.Ultrasonic cleaning not only saves the time of the remanufacturing process and improves the washing efficiency, but also improves the quality of the remanufacturing products and strengthens people’s confidence in remanufacturing products. For the developing of remanufacturing industry of vehicle parts, it provides a key technology. As a result, we can achieve the social and economic benefits of win-win.
