With rapid development of modern industry, the function of modern hydraulic system is becoming more and more complex, the precision degree is becoming higher, the effect of working medium contamination degree on system performance and service life is also becoming bigger, so the problem of oil contamination in the modern hydraulic system is particularly prominent. Study shows that hydraulic system failure caused by contamination of oil in hydraulic system is about70%~80%, among them approximately75%is the result of the presence of particulate contamination. So the hydraulic system contamination control has important significance. As the main component of hydraulic system’s control over solid particles contamination, the correct evaluation of the filter’s performance is closely related to whether the hydraulic system’s pollution control goals can be achieved, whether hydraulic components and system performance and operational reliability can be effectively guaranteed, whether the hydraulic system can work safely.Multi-pass test is the most important tests in the assessment of filter’s performance, at present the international assessing method of the performance of the filter is often carried under constant current conditions, few experiments is carried under cyclic flow conditions. However, in hydraulic system, it is difficult to maintain constant current flow, fluctuations of flow and pressure is always existed, which makes it hard for existing testing method to reflect the filter’s real performance during use, so it is important to study the performance of the filter under cyclic flow conditions. In this article, a series of experiments to investigate the impact of the flow pulsation frequency and amplitude on filtration cartridge’s performance made of different materials were designed, two test dusts which are MTD and FTD were used in order to investigate the impact of test dust on filter performance, in which way we can provide the basis for filter multi-pass test standard and make the evaluation method for filter performance more scientific.
