Automotive engine air filter element is an important component of the air intake system.In the working process of the engine,the air will pass through the filter of the air filter into the intake manifold of the engine,and then enter into the cylinder of the engine through the throttle valve and the inlet pressure stabilizing box.The selection of air filter element plays an important role in the power performance,economy and service life of automobile engine.In this paper,based on the concept of energy saving and emission reduction,a new type of engine air filter element is designed,which is made of wood fiber.This paper first introduces the different filter types and the common air filter brand in the market,comparing the performance of different kinds of fiber filters,according to the theory of fiber filtration,the formula of air filtration efficiency and filtration resistance of cylindrical wood fiber engine is summarized;Secondly,the formula is programmed into the MATLAB software,the operation results show that the filtering performance of the air filter element of cylindrical wood fiber engine is obtained,the influence of different parameters on the filtration efficiency and filtration resistance was analyzed;Using the computational fluid dynamics software FLUENT to simulate the air filter element of cylindrical wood fiber engine,it is concluded that the distribution of pressure distribution in the air filter element of the cylindrical wood fiber engine,the nephogram of the airflow trajectory and the velocity profile,the flow field of air flow in the air filter element of cylindrical wood fiber engine and the internal pressure in the flow field were analyzed;Determine the parameters of the cylindrical wood fiber air filter and make its laboratory processing technology,make multiple filter core specimens,according to the national standard,the filtering of air filter of cylindrical wood fiber engine was tested,the influence of different parameters on the filtration efficiency,filtration resistance and dust content of the filter is analyzed by the test data;Finally,the engine bench test was carried out,the effects of different parameters on the power and economy of the engine of the cylindrical wood fiber engine were tested,compared with the filter paper in the market,the data were input into the Origin 8.6 software for the two fitting,the optimum size of air filter element of cylindrical wood fiber engine under different working conditions is analyzed..It is of great significance to the design,development and production of the air filter element of cylindrical wood fiber engine.
