The Design And Strategy Research Of Outdoor Exchanges And Space Environment Of The Elderly Community

Traditional pension model (such as home care, welfare, pension, etc.) have beendifficult to meet the growing needs of the elderly life, a new model called "elderlycommunity" is booming in various forms. Relying on the community to build a socialcare service system is the objective requirements of urban and rural elderly issues，sothey can enjoy the comfortable community service of high quality and safe socialdevelopment. Human are social figures, communication is the greatest spiritual needs.For elderly retirement idle, pleasant communication is necessary to improve their healthboth on physical and mental.The outdoor space is the material carrier of the exchanges,research and keep improving the elderly community outdoor exchanges space designhas a strong practical significance.Base on the elderly’s physiological and psychological trait, together with itscommunication influencing factors, we can draw the characteristics of outdoor spacesuitable for the elderly exchanges, which include identifiab le and territorial, securityand convenience, comfort and health, participation and diversity. By taking severalquestionnaire and interviews of the elderly for what kind of outdoor communicationspaces do they expecting. Interview of elderly in Shanghai Xiaoxianfang community forexample, we analyzed its current usage status of various communication space. Base onthis analysis, we can summarize and make a deep concern for the whole elderlycommunity outdoor space problem in China. For the reasons cause s uch problems, wesummarized from three aspects:1. Did not take this into consideration that China hasgradually entered the aging state of the nation,2. Did not do a real understanding of thephysiological characteristics of the elderly and psychological characteristics.3. Did notunderstanding the true meaning of "environmental quality". On the basis of the intentionof current problems of older persons, we come to strategies as below: to build amulti-level, easily identifiable and accessible, territorial and security community, whichcan meet the living expectation of elderly, and stimulate the vitality of the elderlyoutdoor exchanges space. Finally let’s take the actual project Tongcheng rehabilitationGarden as a proof to analyze the outdoor exchanges environment design.
