With the rapid development of China’s automobile industry and the improvement of people’s living standards, the prevalence of motor vehicles has been greatly improved. Automobile air conditioning has been widely popular as the air conditioning in the car, the ride comfort and driving safety of the car have become increasingly demanding. The defrosting performance of the automobile air conditioning has an important impact on the comfort and driving safety of the vehicles. Thus the research on the performance of automobile defrost influencing factors has an important theoretical significance and value in engineering. The numerical simulation method is used on the defrosting performance analysis of automobile windshield. The defrost model, including internal structure of the cabin and defroster duct, is established by the pre-processing software HyperMesh, and the surface mesh of the model is generated base on Computational fluid dynamics. The volume mesh is generated after importing surface mesh model by software STAR-CCM+, then the steady-state and transient simulation are analyzed using Realizable k-epsilon turbulence model and film de-icing model. This paper focuses on research on the impact factors of vehicle defrosting:the inlet air flow and air temperature of defrost duct, the deflector structure of the defroster duct, the angle of the grille and the velocity of air. The defrosting performance of various parameters is analyzed through the air flow field inside the cabin and defroster duct, the velocity field, the temperature field of windscreen and the process of melting ice. The results provide a certain reference value on the optimization design of the defrosting performance of vehicles.
