Slurry pump are widely used in mining, electricity, metallurgy, coal, environmental protection and other industries. Impeller is one of the key parts of the slurry pump and its casting quality directly affects the service life of the slurry pump. Therefore, it is particularly important that using casting process simulation software to simulate the casting process of impeller to prevent or reduce the emergence of casting defects.In this paper, ProCAST software is used to simulate the filling and solidification process of the impeller of65KZL slurry pump.Firstly, through the analysis of the structure of impeller and combination with the actual production experience, gating and riser system is designed and three kinds of casting process program are carried out. The3D model of the impeller is set up by Pro/E software.Secondly, the interface mode between the Pro/E and ProCAST and several methods of grid generation are compared. The results show that intersection grid on the casting model contact surface can be well avoided by using the grid assembly technology.Thirdly, three kinds of casting processes are simulated using simulation software ProCAST. Through the analysis of mould filling process, solidification process, and probability of defects, the optimal scheme is selected.Finally, Practical production of those cast processes is also carried out. The practical production test results are basically consistent with that of simulation.The reasonable casting process of impeller is determined through numerical simulation and practical production, the trial period of the product is shortened, and the rate of qualified products is increased.
