Our country is committed to the direction of constructing a conservation-oriented society, which includes household metering and charging system of residential central heating system. However, the traditional heat meter has the disadvantages of low accuracy, high price, high quality requirements, no remote control and so on. So how to develop a more cost-effective, accurate, fully functional and intelligent product is an urgent problem to be solved.In the situation of analysising in the error causes of traditional heat meter and studying references at home and abroad, the paper develops a new ultrasonic heat meter. In the ultrasonic heat meter, enhanced time digital conversion chip TDC—GP21and ultrasonic sensors are used for detection module, low-power consumption S3C2440chip is used for totalizer and the embedded operating linux system is implanted. Advanced ultrasonic testing technology, powerful computing features of ARM chip and good reliability of Linux ensure good reliability for ultrasonic heat meter. In addition, the DTU wireless module integrated in heat meter and data center software can collect and monitor remote data by GPRS network.The combination of digital heat meter and internet provides people with a new experience of the smart home. The experiments show that the performance of ultrasonic heat meter is superior, the response of data center software reading is rapid.The main content of the paper are as follows:Chapter one:the paper introduced the background and research significance of ultrasonic heat meter and analyzed the problems of existing products, which explained ultrasonic heat meter is the future direction of development.Chapter two:the paper established a theoretical basis for intelligent heat meter and remote meter reading system design, described various ultrasonic flow principle, and selected the time difference method as the subject of the theoretical basis of the heat meter. Derived calorie formula and do quantitative analysis of the errors in some key factors. Do analysis and selection of generated wave transducer and temperature sensors. Introduced the GPRS networking briefly and selected GPRS DTU wireless transmitter module.Chapter three:The platform of software and hardware are builded, mini2440is selected as the development platform. Do comprehensive analysis of the guide program Uboot transplantation, kernel and root file system. Completed the driver development and established embedded Linux operating system platform.Chapter four: Measurement module is developed. Principle and performance of TDC-GP21measurement is introduced. Hardware circuits and software flow chart of measuring module is designed.Chapter five: Application software is developed. The application program development of heat meter based on QT graphical interface is described detailed. The software architecture of remote meter reading server is design, development of GPRS network wireless communication module is developed and design ideas of wireless communications service software function module is proposed.Chapter six:Do experiments and data analysis. Descripted heat meter performance standards in China and graded them. Do tests to the calorimeter, list experimental data, and analysis of error causesChapter seven: Summary forecast.
