The technology of dynamic truck scale has many years of development in our country. It has been widely used in the highway weight charges system and overrun detection system, and its core technology is the development and design of the electronic weighing instruments, which is considered as the core device of the system. In the traditional mode of Weighing instrument design, We always make use of a single chip microcomputer as the control core to driving series of function modules, and its application softwares always need written different programs for different specialized microcomputer, using assembly language and C language for writing, consequently the underlying driver of hardware module and the function application of software module combined with close, at the same time the program software can only apply to the corresponding single chip microcomputer. This mode is not conducive to get modular application software, and not convenient to modify programs, cause the efficiency of research and development lowly. The inconvenience cause the accumulation of the technical difficulties, and software quality cannot be guaranteed. Aiming at this problem, this paper summarizes predecessors’ experience, put forward the design of dynamic weighing instruments, which is base on the latest generation of pair platforms weighing system, which take the industrial control cardinal plate as its hardware control core, embedded WinCE operating system. This instrumentation take the industrial control motherboard as the hardware control core and the MCGSE configuration screen as displaying module, use C++language to modular programming under the environment of EVC, assisting the functional unit of the instrument to realize the electronic weighing instrument.The main content of this paper is as follows:First, this paper discusses the research background and significance of dynamic vehicle weighing system and its instrument, and introduces the related research status, present development situation and future development trend at home and abroad.Second, it introduces the weighing principle, components, organization structure of the vehicle weigh-in-motion with pair platforms, and detailed introduces the instrument’s hardware structure and function modules.Third, it discuss the modular design of the instrument’s software and the application of the practical problems based on the WinCE OS, analysis the weighing sensor data of the pair platforms, and put forward effective processing methods; At the same time, it expounds the design of the instrument display control module based on MCGSE configuration.Fourth, applied the instrument to practical engineering projects, and validate the realization of the the instrument’s functions.Fifth, combining with the design process of the instrument and the test results, summarize experience of the instrument design, looking to the future design of dynamic weighing instrument.The main innovations of this paper are as follows:First, taking the embedded WinCE operating system into the design of dynamic weighing instrument, realizes the modular programming, achieves the separation of the application software layer and hardware layer, enhances the stability of system, improve the efficiency of the development and the portability of applications, facilitates the codes reused and the technology accumulation.Second, to aim at the structure of the newly developed pair platforms, analyzes the sensor data in detail and put forward the corresponding data processing method, simultaneously,design the software logic for the this structure.Third, according to the experience of the field problem, design and use various strategies to respond to those problems, improves the reliability of system.This instrument has been applied in actual engineering projects, which is in the highway toll station in Shanxi Province, and Operating normally, Weighing accuracy, the stability and reliability of system enhanced obviously, and the type recognition rate as high as99%.
