Hazardous materials are easy burning, easy explosive, poisonous and harmful and the environment of highway transportation is variable, so the accidents of hazardous material highway transportation are frequency, the accidents cause personal casualty and property loss and bring huge social negative impact. So it is important to research and develop the system that can monitor and alarm for hazardous material highway transportation vehicles and manage the relevant information, and it effectively reduce the incidence of accidents and ensure the safety of transportation. To develop the system needs a variety of all aspects of technology. In this paper, we primarily research the key technologies that use in hazardous material highway transportation monitoring system including the non-blocking communication technology, route optimization, monitoring visualization technology.On the basis of analyzing and describing the main functions of hazardous material highway transportation monitoring system and concluding the important meaning of the key technologies for hazardous material highway transportation monitoring system, analysis and research the key technologies specifically. The first key technology is the non-blocking communication technology, it is used in building the high concurrent communication server, and contains the following techniques, Java NIO, threadPool, reactor pattern. Then analyzing the functions of the high concurrent communication server and describing and displaying the system structure of the server. The second is route optimization for hazardous material highway transportation. On the base of risk analysis, I research the accident probability model and accident consequences model which involve risk analysis, then put forward the question of path optimization, discuss the two key decisions and four types of transportation, finally put forward bi-level programming model that applies in the system. The last key technology is monitoring visualization technology, on the base of Intelligent Transport System that based on GIS, choose the component type to use in the system, then introduce the structure of electronic map MapABC and secondary develop, put forward the POI of highway transportation and the visual search model for these POI and specifically apply in the system. The end of the paper, describes some important subsystem and functions that use the three key technologies researched in the previous paper. Firstly, introduce the system development environment and the development tools, describe the database used in hazardous material highway transportation monitoring system and the situation that the database tables using in each subsystem. Then display the communication server which use the non-blocking communication technology, the subsystems like real-time monitoring subsystem, historical track management subsystem and alarm subsystem that use the route optimization, the functions of refinery product distribution management using monitoring visualize technology, and put forward the future development suggestions.
