Large volume, long-distance, high-speed, high-power has become thedevelopment trend of the belt conveyor.During the tape machine running, too muchtension can cause tape to appear adverse effects,like morph and rupture, too smalltension can cause tape to appear silt phenomenon. So, to make the normal run of thebelt conveyor, tension control study has practical significance.The article analyze viscoelastic character of the tape. Then the tape is dividedinto several small pieces by using the finite element method.Each small piece useVogit model.Through the small piece builded up orderly,belt conveyor model canbe established.In the process of running for the belt conveyor,there will be internaland external disturbances on the system.So to study robust controller to control thetension is necessary.1. Using the finite element method, to establish the the longitudinalmechanical model of the entire belt conveyor, and select the appropriate statevariables to establish its equation of state.2.During the running of the belt conveyor,material distributed uneven cancause quality changes.There will be formation of parameter uncertainty.In theprocess of feeding,impact will make external factors formed interference.There willbe also caused uncertainty.Mu-synthesis robust controller have been designed forthese problems.Ensured the robust stability of the system.3.As the designed mu-synthesis robust controller has high order,it is notconducive to realize in the project.Schur reduction method is used for controller toreduce its order.By comparing of original controller,order reduced controllerremained robust stability of the system.4.To eatablish the model of the entire belt conveyor system including drivemotor by using Simulink.The simulation results show that the control effect isgood.To design the monitoring system and PLC controller.And used OPC tocommunicate. The operational status of the belt conveyor can be observed and theeffect of the robust controller can be verify.
