Embedded PLC is a new kind of industrial automation controller which based onembedded computer platform and IEC61131-3programming environment. At present,almost all wind turbine with Embedded PLC as its control system, but there is no matureproducts in our country. In order to overcome the monopolization of this kind of technique,and enhance the capability of independent innovation of China. In this paper, based on ananalysis of the MW wind turbine needs and current situation of the development ofembedded PLC, a embedded soft PLC system which was on the basis of VxWorks and3S’s CodeSys was designed.The operational principle of embedded soft PLC and international standards ofIEC61131-3were researched in this paper, and on the basis of research the architecture ofthe soft PLC hardware was introduced.The entire hardware system uses the module designidea,including the CPU module, I/O modules, communication modules and base module.A detailed design of the CPU module was made in the paper, which its core processingunit includes a Power PC processor and a FPGA coprocessor. The former is charge of theimplementation of controlling procedures and system programs, and the latter is mainlyused to manage all I/O modules to achieve the data exchanged between the CPU moduleand I/O modules.The key of this paper is that PLC soft system was designed and achieved. VxWorkshas planted to the hardware platform, which is on the basis of detailed research onVxWorks operating system, constitute the system’s operating environment. The Coretechnologies include many parts, the architecture design of the embeded soft PLC,embeded operating system transplantation, the CodeSys transplantation, real-timeoperating system, I/O mapping, driver and user libraries realization. In order to makebetter use of the system, the question that how to make secondary development on thisplatform was analyzed, and particularly a study how to conduct research on the algorithmsimulink program directly applied to real-time control system.Finally, the soft PLC system was applied to the2MW wind turbine of XEMC. After alot of experiments were made, the reliability and correctness of the system was proved. Sofar, the transplant system operation is stable. At the same time, as an open control platform,the system can be extended to other areas of industrial control which has a very importantpractical significance.
