With the rapid acceleration of the process of globalization, the traditional Chinese architectural culture will be exposed to new challenges and opportunities, and how to inherit and carry forward the excellent traditional architectural culture, is the responsibility of every architect. Facing an increasing number of building construction and a situation of building energy consumption growing in China, One of the important methods to raise the ability of building ecological design and reduce too high status of the building energy consumption in China, is to absorb the excellent traditional architectural culture and apply the appropriate traditional ecological construction experience.Chinese traditional residence is labor product, which is formed by long-term architectural practice that predecessors respond to constraints of the natural and social conditions, which implies a large number of ecological construction experience. These valuable experiences not only express specific design measures, but also include abstract traditional philosophical thinking and excellent ecological design concept. Therefore, this paper focuses on the application of the traditional houses ecological experience as breakthrough in research, on the one hand, the proposes to preserve and continuity historical context and geographical characteristics of the traditional dwellings, through digging the hidden ecological construction thinking in China’s traditional houses; on the other hand is to promote and enhance modern applications and ecological energy saving design of Chinese traditional residential eco-experience, through studying the accumulated eco-construction measures in traditional dwellings. The innovation of this paper is that:taking traditional houses of Northern Shanxi Province as an example, for traditional dwellings in the north of Shanxi, on the basis of geographical characteristics and ecological construction experience, as well as relevant literature collection、collation and comprehensive survey, which detailed analysis of the traditional eco-construction characteristics, from multiple angles, such as selection of settlement and groups layout, spatial characteristics and material used, detailed components and process of using and so on. The paper further concluded some eco-thinking for design, which are "Integrity", Accommodating"," Harmony","Integration scene and emotion ".In the base of the outstanding achievements of predecessors, currently, for modern development of traditional residence in the north of Shanxi, there are traditional residential "abandoned", new residential "context fracture"、"lack of ecological characteristics"、"stereotyped" and blind worship of modern technology civilization, through adhering to the residential green regeneration and sustainable development direction and focus on building Integrity ecological space of the dwellings, using the multidisciplinary and a wide range of ecological design thinking, so as to establish a theoretical system of scientific development and modern applications of ecological experience on traditional houses of the north in Shanxi. To old Guangwu village of Shuozhou of the north in Shanxi the background, on the basis of theoretical system of scientific development and modern applications of ecological experience on traditional houses of the north in Shanxi. Focus on green regeneration and sustainable development of traditional dwellings, for new residence provide powerful reference data and further analysis traditional houses built environment of old Guangwu by energy-efficient computing, in order to create a new residential form with local ecological characteristics.
