The Continuously Variable Transmission technology have been widely used in manyindustries, currently it receives a lot of attention and study because of its gentle process ofvariable speed, high reliability, good stability and economic. One of the defects ofmechanical Continuously Variable Transmission output motion can not achieve uniformoutput based on a lot of research and characteristics analysis of the mechanicalContinuously Variable Transmission. This paper presents a new conical cam structure mechanical stepless speed variator, full uniform motion output can be achieved by using oscillating follower cam mechanismwith a combination law of motion and one-way clutch. This paper use3D modelingtechnology, virtual prototyping, finite element technology to design and study the newmechanical stepless speed variator. This paper use SolidWorks software to create its3Dassembly model, Adams/View and HyperWorks Series software to create its Multi-bodydynamics model and rigid-flexible coupling dynamic model, HyperWorks Series softwareand the finite element theory to create its key part’s finite element model. The simulation results show that the application of flexible coupling dynamicsmodel is more realistic, more accurate description of the actual model. By using gearmechanism, three symmetrically arranged cam mechanism and one-way clutch’s motionsynthesis, as well as constant velocity law of motion of the conical cam, the outputmotion can achieve completely uniform motion output theoretically; good simulationresults are obtained, its movement and dynamic performance are good. By axialmovement of the pendulum rod, the pendulum rod is contacted with the conical cam’sdifferent parts, then it can realize stepless speed and have a good performance motion.SolidWorks, Adams/View, HyperWorks software was used to establish the steplessspeed variator’s multi-body dynamics model and finite element model, then we analysisits kinematics, dynamics and finite element features, this method provides a new way ofthinking for the design and analysis of the stepless speed variator.
