The stepless speed variators have been widely used in lots of fields for its convinient speed regulation, good property of varying velocity, high working stability, low cost and better economical efficiency. It can adjust different demands of different working conditions, and has been widely concerned and studied recently. This article studies and analyzes current all kinds of mechanical pulsing stepless variator and finds that although mechanical stepless variator is a hot spot of research but the achievements in the kind of pulsing stepless variator is relatively few. The domestic products mainly surveying and mapping of foreign prototype. The studied products have few change in structure and have few big breakthrough. The innovation of products need to be promoted. This article aiming at this kind of variator, put forward a new type of swinging arm impulse stepless speed variator. This new type of swinging arm impulse stepless speed variator has advantages such as simple and convenient control, simple and compact structure, convenient for machine, small in size, low cost and so on. It can preserve sources and adjust the command of ecological environment conservation, it has potential and broad benefits in society and economy. The specific works of study in this article are as follows:(1) On the basis of study on structure and performance feature of current mechanical pulsing stepless variator, this article puts forward a new kind of mechanical pulsing stepless variator with swing arm, studies and analyzes the structure and operating principle of the variator.(2) The theoretical study and analysis on motion regulation of driven swing arm in input mechanism is done and relative curve graphs of driven swing arm are obtained by using software MATLAB.(3) The design and study for new type of swinging arm impulse stepless speed variator is realized by the virtual prototype technology platform. The 3D entity model is modeled in software Pro/ENGINEER, and multi-body dynamic model is modeled in software ADAMS. The output property and speed regulation property have been simulated and analyzed in ways of single-phase structure and three-phase structure.(4) The physical prototype has been trial-produced based on virtual prototype and relative tests in physical prototype have been proceeded. The results of tests show that design of new type of swinging arm impulse stepless speed variator is correct and feasible.The study in this article explores a helpful way for creative design of impulse stepless speed variator and puts forward a new thought for design of this kind variator.
