With the social and economic development, cars as the most convenient motor vehicles have ever been increasing in quantity. More and more families now have private cars. This, on the one hand, is helpful for transport. On the other hand, the theft deterrence of cars has become a critical issue. Although most of the cars have theft deterrence devices and there is a range of theft deterrence in the market, there are various kinds of deficits in the devices. It could have the limit in distance-detection which would make it impossible to monitor the vehicles once they are out of the monitoring zone. Alternatively, the devices could easily be unset by thieves, which would cause many unnecessary troubles and losses.With regards to the urgent needs for reliable vehicle theft deterrent products, the paper uses modern mobile communication technology, GPS technology and microprocessor technology to monitor the location of vehicles at a distance. This is achieved through the GSM network of mobile or telecom as well as the GPS signals worldwide by utilizing text transmitting technology and ARM7microprocessor to detect the location and monitor the vibration of vehicles to set vehicle theft deterrent alarm. This design greatly enhances the science of car theft deterrent alarm system. It also improves the theft deterrent effect. It has reached the fundamental goals of seamless net coverage, the stability of signals, and the low cost. The practical test indicates that, with the installation of the device, when there is a vibration of the vehicle to certain degree, or the vehicle is deviated from the parking spot for15meters, the system will give timely alarm text message to the owner. The owner can therefore physically locate the vehicle via the text message. By using mobiles, the owner can immediately check the exact location on the e-map. This facilitates the investigation of the stolen vehicle.If the design could be linked with the electronic system of vehicles, the function could be further expanded. If there could be a cut of electricity and petrol after the vehicle is detected stolen, it could further improve the effect of theft deterrence.
