As on outstanding represeneative of Chinese ancient high-rise buildings, ancient pagodasoccupy an important position in China’s ancient architectural history.The ancient pagotas notonly have important value on the study of China’s long history, culture and so on, but also arethe rare precious resources to the development of tourist culture. However, as the literaturesaid,most of the ancient pagodas in China are in high seismic regions. Although the existingancient pagotas withstood many earthquake in history, which showed good seismicperformance, however because of its weak links and years of wind and rain erosion, it isdifficult to resist the earthquake again for more and more ancient pagodas.For these poorseismic performance of ancient pagota, it they suffered the earthquake once again, it is boundto cause great loss.Therefore, researching the seismic protection of ancient pagota isimminent.This thesis takes the Zhengjue temple as the research object. Combined with its damage,we found that the destruction of ancient pagoda is mainly affected from earthquake, wind rainerosion and so on.We use the concept of anti-seismic design ideas to evaluate the seismicperformance of Zhengjue Temple. We found that this temple meet seismic concept designrequirements in only two aspects which are layout and vertical arrangement and the partialsize of the walls and the other seismic concept design requirements are not met. We created athree-dimension finite element model of Zhengjue Temple and used finite element analysissoftware ETBAS to analysis the model. After that we evaluate the performance of the templeSeismic Performance when damaged before and after damaged.Using the index method,wefound that Zhengjue temple is in a moderate damaged state after the seismic damage.Finally,combining with the injury of the Zhengjue temple,we put forward some methods to repair andreinforce ancient pagota,the measure contains bonding crack,filling the wall which had spallsome bricks, hooping ring beams on the outside and so on.
