In today’s society, the industrial technology develops rapidly, the grid appears more and more non-linear load. Power electronic devices bring in higher reliability and efficiency to the power system, at the same time, it also brings more power quality problems, the switch put a lot of harmonic components in the power system, causing serious distortion of the voltage and current waveforms in the power system. All the countries in the world have raised the issue of power quality attention, it appears that governance harmonic is also more urgent.Install filtering device is one of the effective measures to reduce the harmonic pollution. Throughout the conventional filtering device, active power filter with its high controllability and fast response of great technical advantages, gained more and more people’s attention. Compared to the passive filter, In the power quality increasingly stringent requirements of today, the rapid development of power electronic devices, the rapid increase in the price of the device, Active power filter will be widely used.This paper first introduces harmonic source and impact of harmonic distortion, and an overview of the research status. Elaborates the theoretical basis, the working principle, the classification of the active power filter. Based on the three-phase three-wire shunt active power filter, brief analyze the harmonic detection method based on instantaneous reactive power theory, that is ip-iq.Aiming at the urgent requirement of large capacity active power filter at the present stage, application of multiple technology, this paper presents a double form of the main circuit of active power filter, in the double main circuit form, detailed comparative analysis of a new type of single control and double control. Because it is based on the Hysteresis control and space vector PWM control, in the active power filter control module, detailed description of Hysteresis control methods and Space Vector PWM voltage control method, as well as the current situation, on this basis, combining with the advantages of the two control methods discussed the compensation performance under different control modes,in the end, simulation of each control method in the MATLAB. The simulation results, comparative analysis of compensation effect of different control methods, to better illustrate the advantages and feasibility of the new control method.
