Bridge structural health is related to national economy and social development, inorder to ensure the safety and durability of bridge structures, testing, maintenance andstrengthening are necessary means to prolong the service life of the bridge. With therapid development of the transportation industry, bridge construction speed is slowing,and bridge central task has begun to turn from vigorously bridge construction to theimportant stage that pay equal attention to construction and monitoring. Bridgestructural health monitoring can determine the damage of bridge structures timely,detect potential safety hazard of bridge early, and protect the social property andpeople’s life safety.Deflection monitoring is one of the major means of bridge structural monitoring.Deflection can directly reflect if bridge structural deformation is beyond the scope ofsafety. They all need accurate measurement of bridges static and dynamic deflection, forexample bridge test, unsafe bridge reconstruction, new bridge acceptance and so on.Bridges in service will accelerate aging even collapse by the natural environment,overload, lack of maintenance, disasters. Therefore, it is significant that Bridges aremonitored by the online real-time health monitoring instrument. Especially after theaccident disasters, such as earthquake, fire, flood, explosion, ship collision, establishingrapid, complete, and reliable monitoring system to evaluate safety of Bridges are moreimportant. As the most intuitionistic measurement basis, deflection provides the mostdirect means for the fast monitoring system.This paper, to establish a rapid, real-time, on-line, remote deflection monitoringsystem for the purpose, deeply discusses several aspects of bridge deflection monitoringsystem, including the development status, overall demand, hardware composition,software implementation, timely processing and analysis of monitoring data, etc. Inview of shortcomings in the traditional bridge deflection health monitoring system, suchas difficult installation, high cost, long process, we develop a set of special deal withfast bridge monitoring system after accident disasters, and install the application inChongqing Gaojiahuanyuan bridge engineering experiments. After analysis ofGaojiahuanyuan bridge deflection data, this paper puts forward suggestions on thebridge operation and maintenance, and realizes the evaluation of the bridge safetysituation. The research content mainly for the following several aspects:(1) Analyze thepresent development and existing problems of bridge deflection health monitoringsystem;(2) Research the performance requirements of the fast deflection monitoringsystem;(3) Design hardware composition, laser spot displacement algorithm andsoftware architecture of fast deflection monitoring system;(4) Test system and analyzeexperimental data for fast bridge deflection monitoring system;(5) Elaborateinstallation of fast deflection monitoring system on Chongqing Gaojiahuayuan bridge,analyze deflection and propose maintenance plan.
