With the deepening of China’s rapid economic development and the westerndevelopment strategy implemented,Hydro engineering such as ports,shipside,channel asan important part of the national infrastructure construction extend to more complexmountains with complex geological conditions,bad climate and other conditions.Hydroengineering construction in these areas often encountered this particular geologicalloose accumulation. The presence of loose accumulation will greatly affect Hydroproject’s construction costs and operating safety.The measurement of looseaccumulation’s grain size distribution plays an important part in slope stabilityprediction, landslide prevention and treatment.The range of loose accumulation grain size is large,especially the giant grainsgroup particles,making the traditional screening test in laboratory can not be applied todetermine the grain size distribution.Digital image processing technology to determinethe grain size distribution of loose accumulation may become a new method.This paper first introduces the definition of grain,the relate concepts of imageprocessing technology,general steps of image edge detection.Detailed overview thecurrent common edge detection algorithm around the edge detection technology.Analysis their advantages,disadvantages and scope.At the same time make a summaryof image preprocessing technology which is important to edge detection.Analysis theclassic image filtering method. To obtain the best results of edge detection,the paperalso introduces an edge extraction method based on classification.Compared the effectof two ways about edge extraction,then select the better result for vectorization, editor,build Topology and calculate the equivalent diameter.The loose accumulation is three-dimensional, one problem can not be ignoredbefore image preprocessing is that only the center point of the object facing cameradoes not produce geometric offset, farther from the camera center point geometry offsetthe greater. This paper decrease this error through the creation of three-dimensional.Shooting a bunch of pebbles soil nearby before measuring the grain sizedistribution of the loose accumulation.Detection the edge of pebbles soil and measure itsgrain size distribution.Apply it to measure grain size distribution of loose accumulationafter ensure the method is reliable. Compare the result of the side length known paperand the size measured by the method in this paper it’s substantially the same.This method is feasible and reliable.Then put forward the idea of measuring the entire studyarea grain size distribution of loose accumulation: Airlines with law ofPhotogrammetry.The method in this paper is feasible and easy to operate.Only need totake photographs in the wild and other works completed on the computer.This methodavoids the field sampling and laboratory tests, and low cost,fast,has an importantsignificance for project construction.Furthermore the digital image processing method ismore suitable for the large grain size(>5mm) detection of loose accumulation whichmake up the lack of traditional laboratory sieving.
