Nowadays, energy shortages, frequent traffic accident, the improvement of thequality of road lighting for safety and energy conservation has become hot spot ofresearch both at home and abroad. The judgment of human visual is one of the mostintuitive evaluations among the methods of judging lighting effect. Based on thehuman-eye visual characteristics and road lighting environment, the evaluationmethod of road lighting safety performance and the sensitivity characteristics oflighting luminance and chrominance under human-eye mesopic vision condition isanalyzed, which provide a theoretical analysis basis to design road lighting lightluminous efficacy performance. The main works in this paper are as follows:1. The spectral luminous efficiency relationship of the vision sensitivity isgiven base on mesopic vision in the road lighting environment. The nationalstandards of road lighting brightness belong to mesopic vision areas of the humaneye. Based on the human visual characteristics, the relationship of the road lightingand the human eye peripheral vision and psychological adaptation is analyzed, thenthe relationship between the mesopic vision sensitivity spectrum with brightness ofthe road lighting is summed up, at last the spectrum energy and S/P value of roadlighting is calculated under the mesopic vision.2. The model of the road lighting light source with color matching anddimming is set up based on mesopic vision. HSI-RGB model is transformedThroughIV1V2space model under the brightness requirement of national standards,and the calculation method of brightness linear regulator without changing thedesign of the light source color is given. The tri-stimulus values by using the RGBmodel to match the sensitive spectral Based on the relationship of road lightinglight source effect is acquired. A main road street light has been designed by usingLED as road lighting source.3. An experiment method and index system to evaluate the safetyperformance of road lighting intuitively is given. Relationship between the reactiontime and edge information and visual performance of road lighting source is studied.The requirement of evaluation of road lighting with reaction time and edgeinformation Y is defined. The test methods of two indicators are also designed, and a example test is given.4. Visual performance of road lighting source that to match colors and lightdimming is studied. White, yellow and white green LED light source which base onthe design of match colors and light dimming model is used, and edge informationY and reaction time is taken as evaluation index. Under the same brightnessconditions, the luminous efficiency of the light source spectral toward to visualsensitivity of the human eye is analyzed. The comparative results of theexperimental data are given and the efficacy of the light source is analyzed in thesame light efficiency conditions.D65spectral power distribution is chosen for designing light source,MATLAB7.8.0/SIMULINK simulation software is used to design and experimentalvalidation the model and the light source efficiency. By fitting and analyzing theexperimental data of this paper, the result revealed the design of the LED lightsource in the road lighting environment has some advantage of visual lightefficiency, high efficacy, roads clearer and easier to implement energy saving. Anew design method of exploration for road lighting source is provided by theresults of the research.
