Today, energy sources lacking increasingly and the frequency of traffic accident is challenging road lighting. How to choose the feasible light sources on road lighting caused lighting practitioners researched a hot problem. In this paper, the efficiency of road lighting standards and the structure of the human visual spectrum adaptability are analyzed. The mesopic vision-based road lighting LED light source light distribution model is designed. And based on the relationship of the human eye response time, brightness and chroma, LED white and green the visual effects of light and power density values is studied. The new approach to the human eye response time for the evaluation of road lighting for safety and fuel economy is explored.The main works in this paper are as follows:(1) Construction of road lighting model based on the theory of mesopic visual. Road lighting standards based on individual countries, the brightness of the road lighting is analyzed. The ideal luminance range of road lighting is summed up. Through analysis of the structural characteristics of human visual, pointed out that the human eye is in a high sensitivity of wavelength range, and road lighting model is constructed based on the theory of intermediate visual.(2) A white and green source of LED lighting distribution model is proposed. The human visual wavelength range of sensitivity is analyzed. Given the components of the light color with white and green spectral proportional, distribution in the human eye of mesopic sensitive area, and through simulation experiments to verify that the light source for road lighting and clarity high.(3) The index system of evaluation intermediate time is that a motor vehicle traffic and road lighting safety is given. The requirements of evaluation road lighting in response of time is Defined. The correspondence between the optical efficiency of the electric light for road lighting power density values with reaction time is described. When high pressure sodium lamps, LED white and LED white and green three light sources with the same brightness, the value of road lighting power density is compared. Pointed out the efficacy of LED white and green achieve energy is best.In this paper, combined with the requirements of road lighting, the environment of road lighting at night is simulated by computer. Simulation of different brightness and chroma of road lighting, the reaction time in different conditions of light and color in the human eye is researched. Then through analysis of the data and fitting, the conclusion is obtained, in the conditions of the road lighting and from the saving and safety, the white and green LED is good, it conforms to requirements of the green lighting. The safety of night drivers and pedestrians are ensured.
