Upon the economics and technicality, cable-stayed bridge of single tower hasbecome one kind of bridge types which develop faster and appear competitive inmodern bridge engineering because of its advantages such as better bearingcapacity, reasonable mechanical systems and beautiful shape etc. In this paper, acable-stayed bridge of single column type tower is modeled by the large finiteelement software MIDAS CIVIL. By changing the combination of the girder, pierand tower, four kinds of systems has been modeled which are rigid framed system,floating system, semi-floating system and partial pylons constraint system. Staticand dynamic characteristics and seismic response of cable-stayed bridge of singlecolumn type tower has been systematically analyzed.First of all, the rational cable force of the four kinds of structural systems isresearched for comparison by effect matrix method with choosing the strain energyof the structural system as optimum aim.Secondly, a static analysis is numerically simulated on the basis of the rationalcable force. The laws of internal force and displacement under kinds of load casesare discussed.The dynamic characteristics are calculated and compared, including thenatural vibration period, frequency and modal characteristics.Response spectrum analysis of cable-stayed bridge of single column typetower is researched at last. The dynamic response of structure under the action ofearthquake ground motion is computed for comparison.
