With high transmission efficiency, transmission ratio, compact structure and highcarrying capacity, toroidal drive has become a research focus by scholars both at home andabroad in recent years. However, because its key parts—center worm and the stationaryinternal toroidal gear profile surface structure is complex, its error theory is quite inadequate,which is obviously not conducive to improve the accuracy of the product. To solve thisproblem, only on this basis that we have an understanding about the laws of those errorsgenerated in the manufacturing and assembly process, and influence they have on thetransmission performance, can we target to inhibit those errors, to achieve the purpose ofimproving product accuracy. Therefore, it is necessary to establish the toroidal planet wormdrive error-based meshing theory to provide a theoretical basis for the analysis of how variouserror factors effect meshing performance, as well as the relationship between the processingerror and the center worm and the stationary internal toroidal gear profile error. SpecificWorks to be finished by this paper are as follows:On the basis of thorough analysis about the processing methods and procedures of thekey parts of toroidal drive, this paper summarizes the processing error component of thecenter worm and stationary internal toroidal gear profile surface and establishes thetheoretical basis of the toroidal planet worm gearing, which laid a theoretical foundation forthe analysis of the influence law that various error factors have on meshing performance, aswell as the relationship between the processing error and the center worm and the stationaryinternal toroidal gear profile error.According to the stationary internal toroidal gear surface equation containing processingerrors, to use differential to study the impact that various processing error factors have onstationary internal toroidal gear profile error provides a theoretical guidance for processingreasons which based on the toroidal ring gear profile error analysis.The relationship between error factors of toroidal drive and its transimission precision isanalysed.This paper uses CMM to measure the profile surface of the stationary internal toroidalgear and gains the stationary internal toroidal gear helix error by data processing. In addition,this paper also defines the error measure program about the key parts of the toroidal drive—the center worm and the stationary internal toroidal gear. Thus it provides an idea of the checkand acceptance inspection for the key parts of toroidal drive.
