Currently, with the rapid developing of wind power industry, high transmission performance wind turbine gear box is demanded Therefore, performance analysis based on error theory of the gear used in wind power gear box is necessary and will be instructive for wind power about the transmission gears design and process improvements.this paper discussed a heavy gear used in a MW grade yaw wind power gear box, based on contact finite element theory, combining with the gear error theory and parametric model methods.The finite element contact model with the profile error of the tooth was built and was solved by multi-case with different phase in ANSYS.On this basis,a example of modification profile research based on the theory of the gear modification was introduced.The paper's work was in four aspects:The first, status and theory fundamental as a theoretical basis for error analysis,the finite element theory of the contact analysis for the transmission gears is provide.The second,geometries were modeled; the gear model was build on a parametric modeling software platform, and the three-dimensional finite element gear contact model in ANSYS.After the gear error was analyzed theoretically,then fit the gear tooth profile error. afterwards the finite element gear model was transformed on the coordinates based on the theory of gear meshing, the space coordinate transformation methods and gear profile modification method, three gear contact models with were built, that is one standard gear profile, one gear profile with sinusoidal profile error, and one improved gear profile with sinusoidal profile error.The third, contact analysis. By adjusting the gear meshing phase, the contact gear was repeatedly solved under different of the contact meshing phases.The last, comparation and conclusion. The results about all the three gears were compared, and the conclusion shows that:when a gear had profile error, the contact stress and deformation would increase, while moderate re-shape gear could improve gear contact stress and comprehensive deformation distribution and, thereby, the contact strength of gears could be improved.Gear transmission contact analysis with profile error and modification design about the gear are valuable and significance.
