Along with the aging problem became more and more serious, how to solve ithas got more and more attention. In the construction and planning industry, themainly studied subjects are elderly community, senior housing, and geriatric servicefacilities design. Shenzhen is still a relatively young city, but the pace entered theaging is faster and faster. How to provide a good later life to the senior citizens inShenzhen is a big challenge for the local planning practitioners. Community is themain living area for elderly, and community care facility configuration will directlyaffect the lives of them. At present, Shenzhen are lack of community elderly activitycenter buildings. This paper focuses on providing a reasonable configurationmethod of community elderly activity center in conformity with the practicalsituation of shenzhen. Specific research includes the three aspects as follows:First, it summarizes the development course of community activity centre forsenior citizens, analyses the related norms and case and the characteristics of thecommunity elderly in Shenzhen. It also sums up the basic function of thecommunity elderly activity center and size restrictions. Second, it uses survey,induction and contrastive analysis to go further with this research. On the one hand,it visited14elderly activity centers and activity rooms at all levels in Shenzhen, andsummarizes the existing basic function and construction scale of communityactivity centre for senior citizens, as well as the relationship between the function,scale and its usage. It also analyses the existing problems. On the other hand, itmade a questionnaire survey of106old men in four communities of Shenzhen, andgot the data about the elderly activity demand and the behavior capability. Itilluminated the special activity demands of the elderly in shenzhen and activitiescapability within the scope of community. In addition, it adjusted the function, theservice radius and construction scale of the activity center. Finally, it uses theanalytic hierarchy process (ahp) construct the each function of the communityelderly activity center in shenzhen, and according to the different mobility of theelderly, the paper divided the acivity center into two levels as activity center andactivity room; it also proposed a basic functional facilities configuration combinedwith the present situation investigation of the cases; In accordance with the mobilityof the elderly and community characteristics, put forward three general layoutprinciples as ideal model, discrete model and linear, as well as five kinds of siteselection principles, like transportation oriented type, landscape oriented type,facilities agglomeration oriented type, square oriented type and population densityoriented type. At last it put forward the corresponding advice on how to develop and construct the community elderly activity center.Hoping community geriatric service facilities planning and relative furtherresearch work can get some useful reference and inspiration by this research.
