| China’s State Council highlighted that Shanghai will be built into aninternational financial center and a global shipping hub by2020. In thisregard, great effort will be made on developing shipping industry in thenext few years. As shipping is a capital intensive industrial, shippingfinance plays the key role over the industry.The domestic shipping finance market is still at its preliminary stage.Over the last few years, the development of domestic shipping financemarket has made great progress on conventional shipping loan, exportsupporting loan, finance lease. However, the limited shipping financeservices pattern could not fully meet the demand from diversified andvaried of shipping company, and it is still far from perfect to support theconstruction of global shipping hub. Therefore it is crucial to furtherdiversified shipping finance services based on the concept of takeadvantage of the industrial characteristics and optimize the laws andregulations to support the development of shipping finance services.This paper will set out examples how diversified shipping financeservices support the development of conventional international shippinghub as reference, to put forward constructive model of shipping finance inline with the industrial characteristics and suggestions on optimizing thelaws and regulations to support the development of shipping financeservices. The key purpose of this paper is to provide a constructive andpracticable business model for financial institutions, and to promote theconstruction of Shanghai international shipping hub and financial centeras well as the long-term development of China’s shipping industry. |
