As an important part in suspension system, the ability of the elastic element is alwaysremarkable because they are playing an essential role during the driving. Steel platespring, one of the elastic elements, is widely used because of its advantages, such assimple structural, steady ability and low price. But in working condition, the steel platespring always fail early. It is proved by experimental data that the failure has somerelationships with the material and manufacturing. But there is no data to explain thathow the natural frequency of the steel plate spring works with the failure. So is it withthe structure style, thickness of plate and the road random excitation.The finite element models of the two steel plates spring and the ten steel platesspring are constructed by the APDL language of ANSYS. In this paper, the foundationtheory is nonlinear finite element. Considering with the contact, the static analyses ofthe two models are done, the assembly pre-stress analyses of the two models arefinished. Based on the pre-stress, the working load is added on the finite element, andthen the distributed situations of Von Mises stress on the two models are obtained. Thefinite model is stiffed and the natural frequency and mode shape are calculated throughthe modal analysis.In the end, changing the thickness of plates and the modulus of elasticity, the eightsteel plate spring finite models are constructed. The natural frequency and mode shapeare calculated through the modal analysis. According to the above results, the naturalfrequency change rules of steel plate spring with changing structure, thickness and themodulus of elasticity are qualitative summarized.Applying the modernized design tool is an emphasis in this paper. The modalanalysis of the steel plate spring with nonlinear effect is done with the finite analysis software. The natural frequency and mode shape are obtained, and the natural frequencyinfluencing factors of the steel plate spring are trying to find. Some reliable data andconsulted summary could keep the security while driving, and reduce the economiclosses.
