With the progress of the socio-economic, the automotive industry has developedinto an important property in the national economy. Automotive industry play asignificant role in promoting the development of the social economy and theautomotive testing technology has provided strong support for the development of theautomobile industry. However, most of the existing automotive performance testingsystem have the same defects, such as inconvenient, complicated, inefficient and so on.Firstly, the advantages and disadvantages of domestic automotive testing systemhave been analyzed, and determined the system’s overall scheme. We build theautomobile comprehensive performance testing system based on wireless sensornetworks, in the system the C8051F021microcontroller were used as the coreprocessor of each module and the PTR6100PA wireless module as wireless transceiverdevice. The data acquisition modules collect the status information of the car’s variousparts such as the brake pedal force, steering wheel torque, automotive posture, speed, wheel speed, fuel consumption, steering wheel angle, engine speed and so on. Thecollected analog signals will be transformed into digital signal by the A/D converter ofthe MCU after the signals were processed by the signal conditioning module. Then thedigital signals will be sent to the USB-Wireless part by each data acquisition module. After that the digital signals has been sent to the host computer through the USBinterface circuit. As the host machine the portable computer were used to show, control and record the testing data. Then, the design of the car’s overall performance testing system is completed. Itmainly includes two parts: the hardware circuit design and the software design. Finally, the basic functions of each module in the system were debugged on theexperimental platform. After debugging the basic functions, the experiments of theautomobile performance has been held on the platform to test the wireless sensor network of the automobile comprehensive performance testing system. The test resultsshow that the performance of the system meets the requirements.
