With the continuous development of aerospace technology and the improving requirements of safety performance of aviation field, titanium alloys have been widely used in the aviation field, however, the hard machinability of titanium alloys severely limits its sustainable development. At the same time, the research and application of surface functional structure (micro-texture) are more and more emerging in cutting. This paper have designed several different sizes of the different structures of micro-textured carbide tools, and experiments are carried out under the conditions of dry continuous turning titanium alloys in order to inquiry the influence of processing performance in cutting titanium alloys with the placed micro-textured tools through a combination of test and simulation.Papers preliminary design tools with micro-texture to study the role micro-texture played in proving the cutting performance in cutting titanium alloys, the cutting forces of three direction are obtained by the dynamometer, the friction coefficient between chip and tool are calculated through the mechanical model, a comparative experiment is conducted with non-texture;The data we got is used to redesign nine groups of tools with new micro-texture, then FEA software ANSYS is used to check their structural strength; cutting experiments are conducted on titanium alloys with newly-designed tools using a horizontal turning center under dry conditions to find the role micro-texture played without lubricating, the advantages and disadvantages of different tools are discussed.According to the data obtained by both simulation and test, we summarizes the different influence in machining performance of different forms of micro-textured tools and get a optimal micro-textured structure in the same processing conditions. Finally,we give a tentative idea for improving the micro-texture.
