High magnetic field is one of the most important extreme conditions for scientificresearch and experiments. In order to achieve higher magnetic field, not only thetemperature and stress of material used in magnet need to be overcome, using highperformance winding machine to improve the quality of the magnet is also veryimportant. This paper focuses on the design and implement of a control system for servomotor winding machine based on LabVIEW and PLC, to meet the requirement ofwinding the magnet.The merits and demerits of the traditional human-machine interface, controller andactuator for winding machine are analyzed. Eventually commercial software LabVIEWis selected as the human-machine interface, PLC is selected as the controller, and ACservo motor is selected as the actuator.According to the comparison of the different control modes of servo motor, PositionControl Mode is selected, and the main circuit and control circuits of the servo motor aredesigned. Through the analysis of the different communication modes of LabVIEW andPLC, Freeport Protocol is selected as the communication protocol of PLC to realize theserial communication with LabVIEW via RS232, and a set of communication commandbetween the soft-wares is designed. After the completion of the hardware circuits,LabVIEW and PLC programming are finished to realize the desired functions. LabVIEWwould send control command to PLC, and after receiving and implementing the controlcommand, PLC would send feedback command to LabVIEW.The control system has been debugged, and after the winding motor and the wirearraying motor could work coordinately, more functions have been added to the system.The speed and winding turns have been tested, the errors are acceptable, and the designand implement of a control system for the winding machine is finished. At last, thereason of error is analyzed and possible future improvements are discussed.
