With the accelerating process of urbanization and increasing demand for transportation, traffic problem severity is attracting more and more people’s attention. General public transport has played a very important role in solving urban traffic problems. Relevant departments have introduced bus priority policy measures, such as laws and regulations to implement such a concept. The operating condition of bus dispatch system directly affects the service level of bus lines. Now the bus lines in metropolitan are mainly dispatched in the single whole journey form. In the case of the uneven distribution of passenger flow along the route, the single full scheduling doesn’t play a very good optimization of results. This paper explores how to select line combination scheduling form in the situation of uneven distribution of bus line passenger flow, gives the departing time interval calculating method of short-turn bus schedule, and sets out the combination scheduling scheme of line short-turn bus.First of all, this paper describes several types and definitions of transit vehicle dispatching form and analyses the factors affecting combined scheduling form selection. Based on data analysis of passenger flow, the paper gives the judgment method to select scheduling form. After determining the combined scheduling forms for a period, this paper focuses on short-turn bus schedule, establishes the scheduling optimization model with the optimization goals of cost of passengers waiting for the bus, cost of congestion in the bus and cost of operating for short-turn bus. In this model, the full-length and short-turn bus depart in a certain proportion. Different proportions represent different departing patterns. By solving the model,the paper can achieve the best departing mode and departing time interval between vehicles.Then, this paper selects the bus Route715bus as object of study in the condition that the metro Line2in Wuhan has opened and some bus lines face adjustments. By collecting the traffic data of bus Route715, the paper calculates and verifies the model. In comparison of calculation results with single dispatch, it finds that the model presents the superiority in reducing overall system cost and balancing vehicle load factor. Finally, based on optimized scheduling model and departing time interval between short-turn bus and the whole journey bus, the paper formulates the departing time table. Compared with single dispatch form,short-turn bus scheduling method can increase departure frequency in the route with more passengers and reduce the fleet scale, which further proves the advantages of the model.
