The suspension spring in cars plays an important role in damping process. On one hand, itcan absorb the vibration caused by the uneven road while driving, so it can ensure the driver andpassengers to ride comfortably. On the other hand, it can also ensure that the automobile tire andthe ground can joint together, and also it can improve the control performance and drivingstability. Therefore, the suspension spring system research has extensive value and significance. This paper mainly analyzes the suspension spring and discusses the spring types. This paper discusses three kinds of elastic element (spiral spring, leaf spring, lateral stablepole) which are commonly used in the suspension. The discussion includes the background, development and mechanical properties. On the basis of finite element software ANSYS, thispaper uses c++language write the special analysis system according to the three types of elasticelement. For the same type of spring, they are similar in structure, therefore, this paper makes thetheoretical research on the common three kinds of elastic element of the suspension. Through thetheoretical research, we can get the stiffness of spring model and the distribution of stress andstrain under the action of the load. And the paper compares the theoretical results and ANSYSresults. Through the contrast, this paper also summarizes the new method of calculating springstiffness. this method combines the finite element theory and least square method. While writing the analysis system, the writer writes elastic element parametric mode withANSYS parametric language APDL, Creates the Visual interfaces. And the system calls theAPDL file by Using C++language. Finally finish the analysis system. In the process of analysisof stress and strain, he system can greatly convenient the design personnel’s modeling, meshing, applying constraints, especially to complicated operation. So it can improve the designefficiency and convenient calculation. The method of calculating stiffness in this system is thenew method mentioned above.
