Since the breakout of the global financial crisis of2008, shipping markets are going toslump, the new ship orders are dropping significantly, shipbuilding cost is rising at the sametime, and the great changes have taken place at the market of ship type. As a representativeof the conventional ship type such as oil tank and bulk carrier are facing fierce challenge ofhigh technology and high value-added ships such as the LNG ship, Marine engineering,especially drilling ships. Our country’s fall behind shipbuilding industry facing a big topicof how to improve quality and efficiency of ship design and construction, the whole relatedindustry should take positive and effective measures to solve it. The modular shipbuildingthought applied from warships to merchant ships shows strong vitality in such a background,it can meet the demand of market from shipbuilding cost, the design cycle and quickresponse in terms of marketing. It can improve the ship industry’s competitiveness. Itdetermines the ship enterprise’s future competitiveness and creativity.This paper does some exploratory research on the modular design of deck outfitting,specific work as follows:1. On the basis of collecting and analyzing the domestic and international outfittingmodularization literature, and related scholars latest research carefully, to build the productplatform, to modular design and evaluation of the intermediate product based on the productplatform, to combination and management of module was proposed as a general idea for thedeck outfitting modular design.2. Combined with modular principle and subsystems’ characteristics of ship, this paperproposes general methods to realize hull modularization and outfitting modularization, andput forward specific realization method for two kinds of outfitting module (self sustainingtype module and attachment module).3. According to the deck outfitting module’s characteristics belongs to the attachmenttype module type, so this paper mainly doing deck outfitting research from function andlayout two aspects. The research of function modular realization approach is mainly studied. Combines matrix theory, the fuzzy clustering analysis method and so on to build productplatform, and to begin modular design based on product platform. Because of lacking parentship data and so depend on software, this paper only state general idea of realize modularand parametric layout design.4. Set the anchor system as the typical deck outfitting system cases to specify thewhole process to realize deck outfitting modular design, to demonstrate this paper’s theory,method and thought are accuracy and effectiveness.Overall, the deck outfitting modular design was the main research direction in thispaper, through function modular design and layout modular design to elaborate itsrealization. It is valuable for developing the deck outfitting modular design system.
