As a popular component of middle-voltage breaker has an important role in security andreliability of power system. With the development of science and technology, the switches areputted forward of higher requirements of intelligent control,such as zero-crossing switchingand on-line monitoring,which is very important part of circuit breaker. As a kind of newactuator of Circuit Breaker, Permanent Magnetic Actuator has the advantage of less parts,higher reliability and maintenance-free and so on, so it has been paid more and more attentionby people all over the world,First of all, a brief introduction of intelligent switch is given in this paper. The advantagesof permanent magnetic actuator are discussed opposite to the traditional. With that thenecessity and the feasibility of the new kind of an intelligent actuator is emphasized. Then,according to the characteristic of permanent magnetic actuator, the operation principles ofpermanent magnetic actuator、the static characteristic,the dynamic characteristic arediscussed,new mathematic model and equation are established and the calculation result isanalyzed.At last, we work out the intelligence control system,using the single-chip micro processorof ATMEGA16L of AVR and other parts of unit to control, according to the permanentmagnetic actuator’s characteristic and requirements. Hardware adopts module design method,giving the overall program,and determines the design principles of the MCU as well as thespecific circuit of each unit,and then discuss the working principles. The software alsoadopts the module design method,using C language to mix programming way. In order toenhance the anti一jamming ability of control system,a lot of work has been done both onhard ware and on software.
