The masonry-infilled frame structures have the advantages of layout flexibly, construct fastly, low cost, and are widely used in our country and around the world. Themasonry-infilled walls in frame structures, are often taken as structural components inpractical design which only have the effect of segmentation and maintenance, butaccording to the existing a large number of earthquake records at home and abroad, themasonry-infilled walls collapse in the direction of out-of-plane caused by the lossoccupies occupy a high proportion, so the infilled walls out of plane directionmechanical properties research is particularly important. How to improve the structuremechanics performance in the direction of out-of-plane in practical engineering, toreduce the out-of-plane damages has an important significance. As the extension and supplement of the experimental study, the FEM method canmake up the defects of experimental study that long period, material used up big, can’tbe carried out repeatly, and it is the premise of the parameters analysis.Based on the ANSYS FEM analysis platform, preliminary studies were carried outon the out-of-plane behaviors of the infilled walls, the following several research workswere carried out:(1) Refering to the examples of structural damage in the earthquake, the out-of-plane failure modes of masonry walls are summarized and analyzed; and a empiricalformula to calculate the bearing capacity of masonry filled walls is introduced, and theadvantages and disadvantages of this formula were analyzed, too.(2) Referencing to the existing model and the data of experiment, and the ANSYSfinite element model is established. By comparing the limit load, load-displacementcurve, failure modes, etc, verified the validity of the finite element modeling method, and the factors affecting the filling wall outside performance are analyzed, such as theratio of high and thick, the compressive strength of masonry structure, aspect ratio, column vertical load, the initial cohesive force, friction coefficient, etc.(3) A new kind of embedded type solid block of mechanical properties and itseffect on the properties of filled outside the walls were analyzed, and obtained theoptimal proportion of build-in; by comparing the existing ordinary block filling wallmechanics performance, evaluated its performance.
