With the development and progress of society, the social demand for electricity isgrowing, so need for more and greater thermal power plant to support the community’sdemand for electricity, so the ancillary building structurethere is a heel height requirements.The cooling tower is a very important building for the thermal power plant, the burden ofday-to-day running of the power plant is an important role. Cooling tower toward higher andhigher, more and more big, more and more complex, it is an extremely serious challenge forconcrete cooling tower,let concrete material defects increasingly evident. Therefore, theconcrete, reinforced concrete, all-glass steel structures, steel structures, and mixed structurecan be used to material of the cooling tower.This article places the steel as the material of the cooling tower, and on such a large-scalespecial steel structure, use of the cooling towers of steel structure has been the maturing of thefinite element method, through large-scale general-purpose finite element software ANSYS tocreate a three-dimensional finite element model, used the linear filter method, throuthMATLAB platform by computer simulation of wind load. Then its4analysis: static structuralanalysis, modal analysis, the overall stability analysis, and the dynamic response analysis, soit can provide some guidance for the future of this aspect of the project design.First, to create a three-dimensional finite element model of the actual size, consider thestructure weight and wind load on the structure of static analysis, where the wind load isequivalent wind load specifications given. The conclusions of the analysis can be used as aproject reference. Secondly, as the basis of the dynamic response analysis, modal analysis isneeded. Extracted from the structure of the first30order modal.Through the modalobservation, found that the structure’s lateral stiffness is closer, and it’s torsional stiffness islower, need attention in the design. Then, for the pressure of the steel structure, the stabilityproblem is a issues can not be ignored, so the stability analysis of the structure is needed.Buckling load factor is relatively large, the overall stability of the structure is safe, but itincludes the torsional buckling in order buckling mode, should pay attention to structuretorsional design. Finally input the wind load time to structure, calculated by ANSYS use ofharmonic superposition,get structural wind loads dynamic response time.Various mechanical properties of the steel cooling tower can be drawn from the aboveanalysis, to arrive at the structure of the static and dynamic force characteristics, andcompared to see whether the structure of the need for the dynamic analysis, the structuremeets the requirements of the design.
