The transmission line is the artery of the smart grid, its running state directly determines thesafety of power grid operation and benefits. Therefore, there is an urgent need for the equipment,which can real-time monitor the operating conditions of transmission line and report the faultinformation promptly. The sensor node of smart grid discussed by this paper combines modern sensortechnology, the IOT technology, embedded system technology and green energy technology, whichcould be used for fault detection of the smart grid, set anomaly identification, fault section positionand status information feedback at an organic whole, can real-time monitor the voltage and current ofpoint potential and other related information, find the potential danger in the operation of line, protectthe operation safety of power system, which helps to improve the reliability of smart grid running.The sensor node uses STM32enhanced ARM microcontroller as the control core, which iscomposed of three intelligent detection terminals (including two sub machine and a host), installed inthe three-phase high voltage transmission lines requiring being monitored. Each intelligent detectionterminal can finish the independent Real-time online monitoring the change of voltage and current atthe fixed point; usually there will always be a certain aura phenomenon before the transmission linefailure happens, therefore, some intelligent detection terminals also have the function of monitoringthe state of information to facilitate early detection of hidden faults and issued a warning information;with the wireless communication technology, sub machine, the host, remote server and maintenancepersonnel constitute an organic network, which could realize the convenient effective feedbacktransmission of fault information and state information; this paper also discusses the design of anon-contact self-created power, which can continue providing stable and secure power supply, so as toensure that the sensor node can work for a long time.The first two chapters of this paper mainly introduces the current research situation anddevelopment of detection and location method and the related detection device at home and abroad,for transmission line single-phase grounding fault and phase-to-phase short-circuit fault, the causesand characteristics of various transmission line fault in small current grounding system are alsoanalyzed. The third and fourth chapters highlight the design process of hardware and software of thesensor node of smart grid, and illustrate the implementation of each function module. The fifthchapter conducts some experiments on the sensor node of smart grid, which verified the design isfeasible and effective.
