Packaging is one element of the main functions of logistics. It’s indispensablewithin manufacturing and distribution. Logistic research revealed that the relationshipbetween packaging and logistics is much closer than the relationship betweenpackaging and manufacturing; as the beginning of logistics, packaging is moreimportant than itself as the end of manufacturing. Except the tradition functions, suchas containing, protection, convenience, promotion, packaging can lower logistics costthrough rationalization designs, which brings considerable economic benefits andsocial benefits for the enterprises.The notebook PC manufacturing quantity is about150million per year, whichcontributed to efficient supply chain mechanism, also promoted the development ofChina’s logistics and transportation industry. However, China’s manufacturingindustry exist the situation of high logistic cost and resource waste. In recent years, atthe time of the economic development, the government also actively encourages greenpackaging and green logistics. Therefore, extending the packaging design that lowerslogistics cost has important practical significance for the notebook PC industry andsocial development.Firstly, this thesis elaborated the relationship between packaging and modernlogistics. Then by taking a certain notebook PC manufacturer as the research case,through specific data analysis, the thesis reveals how the packaging rationalizationdesigns to reduce the logistics cost for enterprises. Packaging rationalization designincludes packaging configuration design, packaging material selection, packagingstowage planning, etc. Through detailed analysis on functional requirement, systemframe, development methodology for packaging stowage planning, the thesisintroduces and designs a practical software, named Packaging Stowage SimulationSystem (PSSS). This software was developed base on MS Access, which is cheap,convenient, and has wide applicability.
