EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) technology is one of the effective methods toreduce NOXemissions. The environment that high temperature and rich oxygen isthe main formation of NOX, EGR technology can effectively reduce the oxygenconcentration in the inlet gas and the maximum combustion temperature in cylinderand meanwhile inhibit the formation of NOX. And it’s a positive impact to NOXandPM emissions and fuel consumption rate by using cooling of EGR technology.Using EGR cooler is an effective measure to reduce the temperature of recirculationexhaust gas. It’s structure has a significant effect on the cooling efficiency. This paperestablished the different structure parameters’ model of threaded cooling pipe by Pro/e,under the condition of the same boundary conditions be given, analyzed and calculatedthree influence factors: pitch and thread opening angle and depth of thread opening usingcomputational fluid dynamics software Fluent, obtained the affect of each individualparameter in the thermal efficiency and the pressure drop. According to the result,generalizations and filtering the obtained data, finally produced a set of optimalparameters used in the cooling tube structure of EGR cooler. This parameter is not onlyensure the gas pressure drop, and further improves the thermal efficiency of the cooler.Given the basic logical structure of EGR cooler design process, introduced thestructure of the EGR cooler design and the effect of the structure design of tubularcooler to the cooler heat transfer capability briefly. Analyzed an EGR cooler systemof diesel engine combined with given initial conditions and adopted a group ofoptimal structural parameters of screw cooling pipe analysis in this paper.Experiments prove that the structure of cooler compact and reasonable, thermalefficiency is higher.This study was to analyze the affect threaded pipe structure parameters on theheat transfer capacity and the effects of stress, summarize its law, provide areference for the design of the EGR cooler. And the analysis of the results in thispaper if applied on other heat transfer equipment, also has the theoretical andpractical feasibility.
